AI readiness assessment: find the first workflow worth doing
You know AI should be doing some of the work, but not which part. Answer 20 short questions, or bring one task to a free call. We'll tell you where to start, or that AI isn't the answer.
You'll talk to Usama, who writes the code.
Three questions that find your first workflow
If one of these has an obvious answer, you've probably found your first workflow.
The same steps
What does someone on your team do every day that follows the same steps?
Typed twice
Where does the same information get typed twice?
Already answered
What do customers ask that already has an answer somewhere in your systems?
The AI readiness checklist
Answer each question yes or no. Each yes is a point. The score at the end tells you what to do next. It takes about ten minutes.
0 of 20 yes
The workflow
A first task should already happen the same way each time. If you can name one, you have a place to start.
Someone has to say what done well looks like, or there is nothing to check the output against.
Typing the same facts twice is a common place to start, because the steps are already known.
Questions that already have an answer are a better fit than questions nobody has answered.
Start where a mistake is easy to spot and cheap to undo. Leave refunds, prices and promises with a person.
Your data
If the facts only live in one person's memory, there is nothing reliable for the AI to read.
Past emails, tickets or documents show the real task. They are also what you test against.
The work stops if nobody can open the files or the tool. Name that person before you start.
Personal or sensitive records change who may see them and where they may be sent.
Your tools
A short list of the tools shows what has to connect.
Connecting a tool needs someone who can approve access. That may be you or someone else.
An API or an export is how data moves. If you do not know, that is a fine answer. We can check on a call.
People use a new tool when it shows up in the inbox, CRM or chat they already open.
Risk and checks
Some steps should wait for a person. Write those down before anything goes live.
Refunds, complaints and promises stay with a person. This asks whether that person is already clear.
If a customer will talk to AI, say so. Decide that before you turn it on.
You should be able to turn it off and go back to the way the task works today.
People
One owner decides what good looks like and what happens when the result is wrong.
The people who do the work know the exceptions. Their test is the one that matters.
Time taken, tickets per day or errors give you a before and after. Without a measure, you cannot tell if it helped.
- 15 to 20. You're ready to pick a first workflow. Book a free 30-minute call and bring your answers.
- 8 to 14. You're close. The gaps are usually data access and who checks the work. Those are the first things we look at on a call.
- 0 to 7. Start with question 1. Pick one repeat task and write down its steps. Then come back to this list.
AI consulting for small businesses, without the slide deck
You don't need a strategy project to start. You need one workflow, picked well. That's what the call and the audit are for.
What happens on the free 30-minute call
- You tell us the task you'd hand to AI first.
- We ask which tools it touches, how often it happens and what a wrong answer would cost.
- You leave knowing if it's a good fit and what the next step is. If AI isn't the right fix, we'll say so.
The AI workflow audit
If the call shows a good fit, the next step is a paid audit with a fixed fee, credited against the build if you go ahead. You get:
- A map of the workflow as it runs today
- Where AI fits, and where it doesn't
- A data note: what the AI would see and where the data would go
- A fixed price and a date for the first build, in writing
The audit is yours to keep whether you build with us or not.
Signs you're not ready yet, and what to do
- The information isn't in any system
- Start by getting it into one. A spreadsheet is fine.
- The process changes every week
- Settle the steps first. AI copies what you do.
- Nobody owns the workflow
- Pick one person who can say what "right" looks like.
- You want AI to make calls that need a professional's judgement
- Use it to prepare the work, not to decide.
What the research says
“The results show that organizational factors like culture, manager support, and talent practices account for more than 2x the reported AI impact of individual factors like mindset and behavior (67% vs. 32%).”
Figures from published research, linked. These are not Samisoftz results.
Projects we've worked on
We don't name clients. Each build is described with the client's details removed.
- 6,000+ active users on an AI SaaS we worked on
- A PDF bank-statement converter
- A video clipping tool
- A live shopping app
- A luxury car hire site
Who you'll work with
I'm Usama. I write the code on every project and I'm the person on your call. Samisoftz is me and a small team, so we take a few jobs at a time.
Questions people ask
What is an AI readiness assessment?
A check of whether a business has the workflow, the data, the tools and the people in place to put AI to work, and where to start. Ours starts with the free checklist and call, and goes deeper in the paid audit.
Do we need clean data first?
No. You need to know where the data lives. Part of the audit is checking whether it's good enough for the workflow you've picked.
Is the audit free?
The call is free. The audit is a fixed fee, credited against the build if you go ahead.
What if the audit says AI isn't worth it?
Then that's the answer, and you keep the audit. Sometimes the fix is a setting in a tool you already pay for.
How can AI help small businesses?
Mostly by taking the repeat work: answering the same customer questions, reading documents into your systems and writing first drafts. An AI strategy for a small business can start with one workflow, not a long plan.
Do you only work with tech companies?
No. Most of the work is in ordinary businesses that run on email, spreadsheets, a CRM and WhatsApp.
Is this the same as hiring an AI consultant for a small business?
Close. The checklist and the call are free. If a workflow is worth doing, the next step is a small pilot, scoped in writing before any work starts.
